Shooting at California Church

America is in big trouble. The mental health crisis that’s gripping this country after two years of COVID lockdowns is starting to show itself in horrific fashion.

There is no amount of gun law changes or political rhetoric that’s going to easily fix this horrible bloodbath of gun violence that we now see flaring up.

The latest example comes out of California where a suspect shot up a church just after its morning service. Is nothing sacred anymore?

What Happened?

Churchgoers just finished morning service around 1:00 in the afternoon. They were having lunch at a Presbyterian church in Laguna, California when a gunman stormed in and began shooting.

Congregants reacted rapidly and ducked for cover, while others ran towards the shooter and managed to tackle him. This brave action undoubtedly saved many lives.

The faithful managed to stop the aggressor and tie him up with a rope. They also stripped him of both weapons he was reportedly carrying.

Five victims were rushed to the hospital with grievous injuries, and one is reported dead. According to authorities, this church was a Taiwanese Christian church and all those who were injured and killed are of Taiwanese background.

The suspect is reportedly an Asian man in his 60s. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation.

It is not clear if the suspect knew any of the victims or had a specific motive for committing the violence against them.

This attack comes on the heels of the mass shooting in Buffalo, New York. This was done by a white supremacist who aimed to kill black people and murdered ten in his horrific shooting spree.

FBI Steps In

The motive for the crime is not yet known. Though according to local officials, investigations have already begun with the FBI; they hope to find out what happened as soon as possible.

California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office said it was working closely with local authorities to monitor the situation and tweeted a statement in response to the shooting.

The tweet says Californians are all feeling pain for the victims and emphasizes people should feel safe when attending places of a religious nature.

Democratic Congresswoman Katie Porter, who represents Orange County in Congress, also spoke out, describing the attack as terrible and disturbing news, especially less than a day after a mass shooting in Buffalo.

Newsom has been a terrible governor, but he’s absolutely correct that everyone should feel safe to worship as they choose in the United States without the threat of violence.

Why is This Happening?

Every day, there seem to be multiple mass shootings in America. The left says it is because gun laws are too relaxed; the right says it is because the family and society are falling apart.

The truth is that a large number of people have clearly lost their minds. This is a mental health crisis that needs to be addressed as soon as possible, and with extreme seriousness.
