Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife MacKenzie Scott has tied the knot with someone new.
Scott, who divorced Bezos in 2019, is one of the richest women on the planet thanks to her separation settlement.
She’s now married Seattle private school science teacher Dan Jewett.
Washington Post owner Bezos said that “Dan is such a great guy, and I am happy and excited for the both of them,” in response to the news, although it’s interesting to note that for years now he’s followed Mackenzie on Twitter but she doesn’t follow him back.
Even the richest man in the world doesn’t always get what he wants, it would seem.
Even though her ex-husband is the one who’s in the news more frequently, Mackenzie Scott is quite a remarkable woman. Her 2019 split from Bezos accelerated her desire to be a leading philanthropist who gives her money away to causes that she considers to be important to make the world a better place.
That’s because Scott received 4% of Amazon’s stock as her divorce settlement with Bezos.
In fact, Scott has pledged to eventually give away almost all of her money. And it’s a lot of money, considering that her current net worth is an estimated $35 billion.
Scott, whose full legal name is actually Mackenzie Sheri Tuttle – but who prefers to go by the surname Scott after her grandfather who raised her – has focused on helping food banks, historically Black colleges, charities that help women and more.
Her promise to give away large amounts of her money is more than just talk. She’s already handed out over $4 billion to causes she deems worthy since her 2019 divorce.

Jewett Joins Forces
On her page promising to give away her money, Scott is signed onto by Jewett who wrote that “it is strange to be writing a letter indicating I plan to give away the majority of my wealth during my lifetime, as I have never sought to gather the kind of wealth required to feel like saying such a thing would have particular meaning.”
Now that he’s married to the third-richest woman in the entire world giving away his money definitely means something.
Bezos and Scott were both graduates of Princeton University and met working at a New York hedge fund. Scott helped him start Amazon in the mid-1990s and was married to Bezos for over two decades before eventually parting ways in 2019.
Her participating in the Giving Pledge, which was created by Bill and Melinda Gates as well as Warren Buffet, has drawn attention, although Bezos himself has not joined on. Bezos is worth about $177 billion and is the richest person on record in the world.
Scott met Jewett at the ritzy Lakeside Prep school attended by her kids where he teaches science. Lakeside is also the school that Bill Gates previously attended as a student, so it’s got quite the collection of famous alumni.
“In a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know—and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others,” Jewett wrote.
We wish good luck and a happy life together to both of them, and it is certainly impressive to be contributing so much money to improving the world. However, attention to detail is also needed here and we hope that Scott and Jewett have the wisdom to give to causes that are wholesome and beneficial to humanity, rather than signing on to the manipulative globalist agenda of Bill Gates.
